PRESS STATEMENT ON NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE AWARD FOR HUMAN RIGHTS WORK
Mrs Joyce Andersen, Board Member of DITSHWANELO, receives a Presidential 2010 award
DITSHWANELO – The Botswana Centre for Human Rights congratulates its Board Member, Mrs Joyce Andersen for the honour bestowed upon her by the Government of Botswana in presenting her with an Presidential Award in commemoration of Botswana’s 44 th Anniversary of Independence.
Mrs Andersen received this honour for her work in the environment and human rights. This award is an acknowledgement by the Government of Botswana of the importance of human rights work in nation building and for this we are greatly appreciative.
Mrs Andersen is one of the founders of DITSHWANELO. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of DITSHWANELO since it started operating in 1993. She plays an active role in the development and direction of the organisation and works tirelessly for the promotion and protection of human rights in Botswana.
We take this opportunity to thank the Government of Botswana for conferring this honour on DITSHWANELO’s Board member. We look forward to continued national recognition of human rights as a critical contributor to people-centred development and building the pillars of Vision 2016.
